KS3 Photography

We all have cameras on us all the time, we take photos daily, often documenting all aspects of our lives. If we apply the core concepts of formal art elements and the principals of photography we can elevate our everyday snaps into thoughtful, meaningful documentation of the world around us and the human experiences within it. Below is a selection of KS3 photography outcomes after a range of prompts.

How are you holding up?

During the 2020 quarantine, we found ourselves asking this of our students and each other frequently. I asked my students what does that look like?

Students responded thoughtfully creating images that portrayed their experience of lockdown considering lighting, composition, framing, exposure and contrast. Students used Snapseed to refine images using curves, dodge and burn, white balance and other techniques which will translate to Photoshop once back in a physical classroom.

Collections

By looking at the things we gather around us, the objects we can’t part with or intentionally collect students created photographs that told stories about who they are. Utilising natural light and editing with Snapseed.
